Cake Sales Well done to Year 4 who raised £73 in February and to Year 3 who raised £59 in March
Quiz Night 25 Feb 2012 - We are pleaseed to announce that £280 was raised at the quiz night! Thank you to everyone who attended; we hope you enjoyed the night. Well done to the winning team who called themselves 'It was not a try' following the Wales vs. England match that day.
These events have helped to bring the total raised for the school since April 2011 to £7,000. We will now be giving money to Mr Price for new computer software, computers, classroom chairs and carpets. Thank you very much for all your support and generosity. During 2012 we will be raising money for a new all weather canopy over Reception's play area and a climbing wall to link in with the existing play equipment. All money raised by The Friends goes directly to the school and means that the school's much reduced budget can stretch that bit further. Look out for more information on the total we shall be aiming for!
Micro Scooters Schools Initiative A big thank you to all the parents who chose to buy scooters and scooter accessories from Micro Scooter through the Friends of St. John's. Thanks to your support we raised £61 for the school in commission and received two scooters, an Ezy-Rider and a Micro Scooter bag which we will raffle at future events to raise even more!
Christmas Cards Once again these individually designed cards were very popular with both the children and parents. Thanks to Mary Portalska for organising and to all the parents who purchased cards, wrapping paper, gift tags and mugs. We raised £218.
Christmas Fair 10 Dec 2011 - We are delighted to announce that the Christmas Fair raised a fantastic £1,841. Thank you to everyone who brought in donations for the tombola and raffle and to all who helped make this such a fun afternoon for the children. A special mention to the year reps for organising their class stalls and to Santa for making a guest appearance - the grotto looked magical!
Bags2School 11 Nov 2011 - Thank you to everyone who brought their unwanted clothing, shoes, etc to school. This time we raised a fantastic £364.
Bonfire & Fireworks Night 5 Nov 2011 - As always this was a very successful night and the weather was kind to us once again. A huge thank you to all the dads who organised the firework display – it was fantastic! A lot of work goes into arranging this event but the final profit of £1,767 made it all worthwhile so thank you everyone for helping and supporting us.
Year 5 Cake Sale 4 Nov 2011 - Congratulations to Year 5, who raised £67 for their class.
Storage Unit Oct 2011- Some of you may have noticed one of the storage containers on the edge of the school field has started to resemble a large beehive! We have purchased wood from a local saw mill and some of the Dads, ably led by Ian Clarke, have been cladding the leaking container to create a weather proof PE storage hut. A big thank you to all who have helped and are helping finish this fantastic project.
Car Wash 15th October 2011 - A great morning! There was a constant flow of dirty cars for washing and some great helpers, both old faces and new. We made £230 bringing the total for the year to £920. Many thanks to Ian & Hannah Clarke for their excellent organisation and to everyone who turned up to help and have their cars washed. Without you all this event would not be possible, although more helpers are always welcome. Watch this space for car wash dates in 2012!
Cake Sales 7th October 2011 – These continue to be very popular with children, parents and teachers. Whatever money your class raise it will be spent by your class teacher on your children so happy baking! on 7th October. Year 5 cake sale is on Friday 4th November.
Wine Tasting Friday 30th September 2011 - A great time was had by all at the wine tasting evening which made £70 for the Friends. Ten different wines were sampled and Simon Gatley gave tasting notes on each. There were also two fine cheeses on offer and Simon’s homemade beetroot chutney and wine jelly went down very well!

13 Nov 2010: The children have asked, via the school council, whether we can fund more playground equipment. They are currently talking about exactly what they want but we are planning to fund as much of it as possible.
